It's time for ten more tracks that you need to hear!

Blink 182 - Misery

Lacking the light-hearted humour of their earlier releases this is still a fun pop-rock number with their recognisable vocal trickery and crisp backing. (6.5/10)

James Blunt - Bartender

Much less irritating as his previous single was in parts, though overall it was a good 'un, this is much better: a catchy sing-a-long night-out tune. Fun! (7/10)

Jon Bellion - All Time Low

The verses are quiet slow but the vocal effects of the chorus make up for it, making for some good light and shade in its style. Stormzy doesn't add much to the record, but does give it more variety. (7/10)

Kasabian - You're In Love With a Psycho

It might sound pretty much like Eez-eh party 2 and the lyrics and video are probably not that PC, but it's a quirky, hook-filled indie-rock number with a chorus that's likely to get picked up as a sing-a-long highlight this summer. (7/10)

LunchMoney Lewis feat. Ty Dolla $ign - H.O.E (Heaven On Earth)

LunchMoney Lewis may be embracing the cliches he shot down on 'Bills' and Ty is in need of plenty of autotune in here, but this is actually a sweet little love song with a little bit more bite. (6.5/10)


Maximo Park - Get High (No, I Don't)

The second single from the band's upcoming sixth album, this is a little bit of a departure for the band with a poppier outlook and a throbbing bassline but one that's a bit more casual than their usual fare. (6.5/10)

Sheryl Crow - Long Way Back 

Sheryl is back with those jaunty and bouncy little pop number that might not be as huge sonically as her big hits but is still a fun listen. (6.5/10)

The Shimmer Band - Jacknife And The Death Call

Not as loud as you'd imagine from the song title this is a neat indie-rock number that, though not doing anything big, plays out well. (6.5/10)

Ten Millennia - Turn Me On

Though the chorus is pretty simple there's something poppy in its funkiness, as highlighted by its trumpet solo. (6.5/10)

Thieves Like Us - Moon

Another track I was expecting to sound heavier from the band name, this is actually quite a cool, chilled-out number with a subtle yet enjoyable rhythm at its heart. (6.5/10)

New Music Review #29

Here at KBPS we bring you some more songs to listen to and enjoy as well as an EP and two albums!

Divisionists - Daybreak (Album)

'Daybreak' is a gritty lo-fi album of twelve tracks, each strongly produced and offering a focussed indie-rock vibe that plays along well for over 45-minutes. With strong lyrics and a good mix of tempos, paces and vibes, this is a strong album to put on and chill out to that's not afraid to make it quieter when it needs to, though it does at times get a little too maudlin for its own good. (6.5/10)

Eugene Twist - Stuntman

'Stuntman' is a well produced indie number with retro throwbacks with some great changes in pace and emotion that hold your interest. (6.5/10)

Fancy Cars feat. Foy - Heart of Stone

'Heart of Stone' is a great track of electronic swagger with a catchy central chorus and some strong production effects with a big bite. (7/10)

Flora Cash - Nothing Lasts Forever (And It's Fine)

Brought to you by the sweet and listenable voice of Flora Cash this song mixes some neatly written lyrics that come with a message and a quirky, poppy electronic riff. (7/10)

Fufanu - Liability



'Liability' is a neat little mid-tempo electronic number that sounds like Kraftwerk meeting Gary Numan. Fans of that era will get much out of this fun little track. (5.5/10)

God Damn - It Bites

A little heavier than the music I would normally listen to there's still plenty of fun in the catchy chorus and strong flow of lyrics to hook in people who aren't maybe into as guitars as loud as this. A crossover song with good appeal. (6.5/10)

KOYO - Tetrachromat




The intriguingly titled 'Tetrachromat' is an atmospheric electronic number with an otherworldly vibe that really suits its musical aesthetic. Nicely produced. (6.5/10) 

Thieves Like Us - Thieves Like Us (Album)

This nine-track album has a strong indie, ethereal vibe and though no particular tracks stands out as a radio-friendly single (though 'Jennifer', the concluding track is the best contender), the overall vibe as each song flows into the next works really well, and there a few more uptempo pieces amongst the sultrier ones to lift your mood. As an atmospheric, electronic-heavy concept album, though, it works very well. (6.5/10)

Tuxedo - Fux with the Tux (EP)

Opening with title track, this is a seventies sounding EP mixing up the sounds of Chic and Earth, Wind and Fire but with the benefits of modern production values. Catchy and funky in equal measure, the opening track sets the mood for the piece with its quirky and catchy effects and riffs. 'Special' is the second track and has shades of 'Ladies Night' in its vibe and it continues the sound from track one, whilst the third and final song 'July' drops the tempo and brings you a more soulful number, rounding off a really strong and well produced seventies sounding vibe. (7/10)

Vanbot - Collide (Krasnoyarsk)

'Collide' is a hazy, fuzzy little electronic number that growls along with its genuinely intriguing production style, lifted up with its simple but perky synth riff. (6/10)

Bad Lip Reading - Seagulls! (Stop It Now)

Possibly the weirdest thing I've ever posted, this is a strangely compelling and catchy song, both independently to the video but especially with it. (7/10)


Bad Sounds - Wages

'Wages' is a bouncy, uptempo pop number that has a catchy central chorus. A great listen. (7/10)

Coucheron - Loud

'Loud' is a great little single with the Chrvches-like vocals leading into a simple, yet engaging, chorus that has enough pop to compliment its indie vibe. Plus the lyrics video is great. (7/10)

DJ Snake feat. Justin Bieber - Let Me Love You

The chorus might descend into off the shelf beats but the verses are pretty fun and poppy, and better than their respective recent songs. (6/10)

Ibrahim - The Great Divide (featuring Robert Wyatt) (EP)

Ibrahim's three-track EP starts with a gentle cover of New Order's 'World (Price of Love)' which, with its dual vocals, haunting piano riff, and simple production values is the best of the piece. 'The Gone-Away World' is a nice original song but it's a bit ponderous in moments, and the third track was only available as an excerpt, but the opening saxophone is evocative and promising. (6/10)

The Imagineers - Utopian Dreams

Sounding like the lovechild of Oasis and Muse this is a surprisingly understated record without a huge hook but it somehow still grabs you thanks to its atmospheric vibe and solid indie stylings. (6.5/10)


Ingrid Witt - Babies Gonna Cry

'Babies Gonna Cry' is a quirky little single, grounded by Wiit's light, fairy-like vocals and the throbbing electronic backing track. Throw in a building tempo and you have a great little number. (6.5/10)


Linnea Olsson - Weekend



'Weekend' is a delightful mix of dreamy vocals, violin and nicely composed lyrics that all weave together into a beautifully gentle pop song. (7/10)

Naughty Boy feat. Kyla, Popcaan - Should've Been Me

It's a return to form for Naughty Boy with this fun pop-club track, though he has Kyla's loveable vocals to thank, working hand in hand with the summery brass moments. (7/10)


Thieves Like Us - Jennifer

The verses might be a little light-weight and airy for my tastes but the indie undertones and electronic notes of the chorus make for a better song, that grows on you. (5.5/10)
