It's been a while since we last heard from Evanescence and from the sound of this new single not a huge amount has changed but the mix of orchestral strings and Amy Lee's souring vocals are on top form here and it's great to hear them back! (7/10) George Maple - Hero
'Hero' is a driven little number with an interesting beat and a smooth vibe, led by the delightful vocals of Maple. A grower. (7/10) Johann Sebastian Punk - Tragedy
With a great act name but a rather unusual look and video, 'Tragedy' with its indie-rock guitars, classical stylings and drawn-out vocals is a track unlike anything you've heard recently but somehow its eccentricity and crazy production works. (7/10) Kamille feat. Avelino - Body
With a rather experimental production style and layout this is quite a free-flowing track and difficult to describe, but there's something about it that works, and the guest verse by Avelino smooths it up quite a bit. (7/10) Lewis Capaldi - Fade
With a delightfully gruff voice sounding like James Arthur if he could actually sing, this is a beautifully sung song like a Sam Smith number with more bite. Great. (7/10) Nintendo - Jump Up Super Star (Short Version)
It's a fine between advert and song for this, but this swing song from the upcoming new Super Mario game is a great, foot-tapping number with some nice tongue-in-cheek lyrics and a great catchy ending. (7/10) Reverend and the Makers - Black Flowers
I'm still not quite sure what to make of the new Reverend and the Makers sound but the eerie, ethereal sounds of this latest single are quite intriguing and listenable. (6/10) Summer Heart - Follow
One of Summer Heart's best tracks, 'Follow' is a delightfully catchy song, beautifully produced and warming, with some neat multi-layering. (7.5/10) Tove Styrke - Mistakes
You never meet a Tove and suddenly there's a new one. 'Mistakes' has a chorus that takes a bit to sink in but it has a pleasant enough pop feel to its sound and a fun upbeat rhythm. (6.5/10)
Another ten songs you have to hear! Chris Simmons - Gold Dust 'Gold Dust' is a calm and emotive ballad with strong lyrics and a pleasing, gentle vibe that ebbs and flows. Lovely. (7/10) East Of Eli - Child's Play 'Child's Play' is a soaring electro-funk number with a great rhythm, catchy chorus and an interesting mix of production effects. Fun! (7/10) Eoin Glackin - Wear It While You Can
I managed to see Glackin live three years ago, playing this song, so it's nice to see him bringing music out. This is a bouncy, folk-tinged number with a foot-tapping beat and optimistic sunny vibe! (7/10) Galaxy Thief - For A Bad Time With shades of pop-punk and Blink 182 in their sound, 'For A Bad Time' is a simple and raw number with hints of ska and a determined drum beat. With an 'Oh Wonder' vibe this gentle electro-style number showcases a powerful voice over some surprisingly memorable moments. (6.5/10) Klez - Ain't Nobody's Fool
'Ain't Nobody's Fool' is a catchy, soulful little single with a strong 70s vibe that brings the funk back into the 21st Century, plus its big and bold breakdown cements my love for it. (7/10) Mary Byrne - I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself This cover of the classic Dusty Springfield song doesn't do anything remarkable or different with the production, arrangement and style but Byrne's powerful voice and the crisp modern production make for a refreshed version of the familiar song. (6.5/10) Reverend and the Makers - Auld Reekie Blues
The first of the new 'Reverend and the Makers'-sound singles I've enjoyed, this is a cool, hippy piece with a smooth, post-summer vibe. I'm still a bigger fan of their older indie vibes but this is an interesting and refreshing change in style and it works. (6/10) Steve Rodgers - Head Up High
Even better than his last single, 'Head Up High' is a warm, upbeat pop-rock song with a really optimistic vibe and a strong radio-friendly sound from its catchy chorus to its clap-along a capella ending. (6.5/10) Tally Spear - Days Like These
'Days Like These' is a gorgeous little pop-country song with a perky pace with Spear's loveable vocals complimenting the vibe perfectly, with the harmonica section adding some extra vibes to the production. Delightful. (7/10)

With a very listenable voice and a song with intriguing production, this is a delightful refreshing listen. (6.5/10) Capital Cities - Drop Everything
Having released some great songs over their short career, this is perhaps not as explosive as those singles but it's still got a delightful rhythm, witty lyrics and an optimistic feel. (7/10) Chris Simmons - Gold Dust 'Gold Dust' is a delightfully gentle and touching little track with some silky smooth production, creating a relaxing and heartfelt atmosphere. (6.5/10) Coldplay & Big Sean - Miracles
Though their sound hasn't changed hugely, Coldplay are certainly branching out recently with their collaborations to do something a bit different, so although this isn't hugely revolutionary or as hooky as their big hits has moments of interest. (6/10) Fjokra - Bang On The Door After the great 'Sick Kids' Fjokra return with another quirky and catchy song that mixes up dual vocals, style shifts and didgeridoo with sitar, creating an eccentric but memorable number. (7.5/10) The Ghibertins - The Less I Know The Better
We really loved their last single, but this is even better from the great didgeridoo opening to the downbeat but yet quickly catchy chorus, and some well written lyrics. (7.5/10) OneRepublic and Seeb - Rich Love
It might be a bit bland and formulaic compared to OneRepublic at their non-dancey best but it's got enough of a summer-friendly vibe to hold things together. (6.5/10) Ooberfuse - Why Oh Why Electro-swing is one of the genres that is really growing on me, and here we have a classic example. Having seen Ooberfuse live a couple of years ago it's great to hear them back, and this catchy, radio-friendly quirky little number is their best song yet! (7.5/10) Reverend and the Makers - Juliet Knows
Quite different for a song by them as it doesn't have Jon McClure on lead vocals, this is a nice and gentle stripped back tune with a warming, summery feel. Nice. (6.5/10) Vance Joy - Lay It On Me
Vance Joy has always been on my radar thanks to its stonking breakthrough track 'Riptide' and though is a quieter number than that it has enough fun in its brassy breakdown and heart in its lyrics and delivery to raise a smile. (6.5/10)

Though not quite as emotive or hook-filed as 'Family Tree', an earlier cut from the same EP, 'Flow' once more showcases Hulme's great voice and ability to make a great, flowing, well produced indie number. (6.5/10) Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut To The Feeling
Another jaunty pop-single from Jepsen; sure it's not earth-shattering or anything but is fun enough. (6/10) Jonas Blue feat. Gina Kushka - Heartbeat
A rather stripped back tune for Blue, it's once more Kushka that really lifts the song, its heartfelt soaring lyrics complimented by the simple piano and strings. Sweet. (6.5/10) Natasha Bedingfield - More of Me
Taken from the new Tangled television show, this is a perky sunny optimistic pop tune that sees a welcome return for Bedingfield. It's inoffensive but fun. (6.5/10) NEIKED feat. Mimi - Call Me
'Call Me' is a bouncy, EDM-club song that outside of its generic chorus has a fun warming vibe thanks mainly to loveable vocals of Mimi. (6.5/10) Olly Murs - Unpredictable
Though the song might be called 'Unpredictable' the song is pretty predictable itself and by-the-numbers, but if you're a fan of Murs then you'll enjoy this light-heared pop-number. (6/10) Reverend and the Makers - Too Tough To Die
The Rev goes all White Stripes on their new single that has a delightful lo-fi feel and some poppy moments but the weird production effects on the vocals damage the words and delivery - what a weird production decision. (6.5/10) Sia feat. Labrinth - To Be Human
It's perhaps not as great as you imagine a collaboration between two great artists should be but it's well produced and sung and there's a pleasing emotion flowing through it. (6/10) Take That - New Day
You can always rely on Take That to produce a slice of uplifting summery pop and though the video may be quite weird and at odds with the sunny optimism, this is another unashamedly radio-friendly pop song. (7.5/10) Zedd and Alessia Cara - Stay
Though like many of the songs in the genre the post-chorus breakdown is cliched, the verses and Cara's delightful vocals and the general catchiness of the song's concept win out in an annoyingly catchy, quirky pop-EDM number. (7.5/10)
